Focus and Scope
FOCUS
The focus of Mahkamah: Jurnal Kajian Hukum Islam is related to Islamic Law and its development, both in the form of (1) The results of research, (2) conceptual ideas, (3) a literature review, and;(4) a Book review.
SCOPE
The scope of Mahkamah: Jurnal Kajian Hukum Islam is Islamic law studies, such as Islamic family law, Islamic criminal law, Islamic political law, Islamic economic law, and Islamic astronomy (Falak studies), with various approaches of normative, philosophy, history, sociology, anthropology, theology, psychology, economics and is intended to communicate the original researches and current issues on the subject.

Peer Review Process
Mahkamah: Jurnal Kajian Hukum Islam maintains the standards of peer review while increasing the efficiency of the process.
All research articles published in Mahkamah: Jurnal Kajian Hukum Islam undergo full peer review, the key characteristics of which are listed below:
- At least two suitably qualified experts review all research articles.
- The journals’ Editors-in-Chief make all publication decisions based on the reviews provided
- Members of the international Editorial Boards lend insight, advice, and guidance to the Editors-in-Chief generally and assist in decision-making on specific submissions.

Peer review of referred papers:
Editors of Mahkamah: Jurnal Kajian Hukum Islam will decide promptly whether to accept, reject, or request revisions of referred papers based on the reviews and editorial insight of the supporting journals. In addition, Editors will have the option of seeking additional reviews when needed. The authors will be advised when the Editors decide further review is needed.

Publication Ethics
Duties of Authors.
Authors are responsible for providing original data without plagiarism and fraudulent data. Many forms of plagiarism such as copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another's paper without attribution, or passing off researchers are prohibited. The author should ensure that they have written entirely original works concerning the manuscript submitted to Mahkamah. Authors are obliged to follow in peer review process set by Mahkamah. The submitted manuscript should not be under consideration or accepted for other journals. Where parts of the data have been published elsewhere, the sources have to be acknowledged or cited properly. Proper citation and permission are required when the authors reproduce data from other sources.
Duties of Editors.
Mahkamah editors are responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published and which ones to be rejected. They have to evaluate the submitted manuscript for their intellectual and academic content without discrimination on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or the political or geographical origin of the authors. Mahkamah editors must not spread any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate. Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in the editor's research without the express written consent of the author.
Duties of Reviewers.
Reviewers are requested to assist in improving the quality of the submitted manuscript through an objective review process within a scheduled period and to contribute to the decision-making process on the manuscript. The editors have to inform reviewers if find any published or submitted content similar to that under their review. Reviewers should avoid conflict of interest concerning the research, the authors, and/or the research funders. Any confidentially of information supplied by the editor or author should be maintained.
Plagiarism Policy
Mahkamah: Jurnal Kajian Hukum Islam The Editorial board recognizes that plagiarism is not acceptable and therefore establishes the following policy stating specific actions (penalties) upon identification of plagiarism/similarities in articles submitted for publication in Mahkamah: Jurnal Kajian Hukum Islam. Mahkamah: Jurnal Kajian Hukum Islam will use Turnitin's originality checking software to detect similarities of texts in article manuscripts and the final version articles ready for publication. A maximum of 35 % of similarities is allowed for the submitted papers. Should we find more than 35 % of the similarity index, the article will be returned to the author for correction and re-submission.
Definition:
Plagiarism involves the "use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's original work."
Policy:
Papers must be original, unpublished, and not pending publication elsewhere. Any material taken verbatim from another source needs to be identified as different from the present original text by (1) indentation, (2) use of quotation marks, and (3) identification of the source.
Any text of an amount exceeding fair use standards (herein defined as more than two or three sentences or the equivalent thereof) or any graphic material reproduced from another source requires permission from the copyright holder and, if feasible, the original author(s) and also requires identification of the source; e.g., previous publication.
When plagiarism is identified, the Editor in Chief is responsible for the review of this paper and will agree on measures according to the extent of plagiarism detected in the paper in agreement with the following guidelines:
Level of Plagiarism
Minor Plagiarism
A small sentence or short paragraph of another manuscript is plagiarized without any significant data or ideas taken from the other papers or publications.
Punishment: A warning is given to the authors and a request to change the manuscript and properly cite the sources.
Intermediate Plagiarism
A significant data, paragraph, or sentence of an article is plagiarized without proper citation to the source.
Punishment: The submitted article is automatically rejected.
Severe Plagiarism
A large portion of an article is plagiarized and involves many aspects such as reproducing original results (data, formulation, equation, law, statement, etc.), ideas, and methods presented in other publications.
Punishment: The paper is automatically rejected and the authors are forbidden to submit further articles to the journal.
