Author Guidelines

A. General Author Guidelines

  1. The Manuscript should be written in Bahasa or English and have never been published or is not in the process of submission for publication to other media and does not contain elements of plagiarism.
  2. The Manuscript is the original research paper in the field of community development especially in rural sociology, development sociology, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), social welfare, social demography, community development management, community development in disaster management, community education, communication development, creative economy, and gender.
  3. The author should register as an author in Jurnal Empower : Jurnal Pengembangan Masyarakat Islam (for authors who do not have an account). The guides to register and submit the paper can be downloaded here.
  4. The Manuscript will be published in Jurnal Empower : Jurnal Pengembangan Masyarakat Islam after being reviewed by peer-reviewers.
  5. The Manuscript should be prepared according to the following author guidelines and template. The manuscript template can be downloaded here.


B. The Guidelines for the Manuscript

  1. Title. the title reflects the main topic of the article. The title should be simple, concise and informative in sentence case format. The title consists of a maximum of 15 words and is written using title case and bold, with a size of 12 pt. Avoid using titles with parenthesis openings (_).
  2. The author's name, complete without a title written and typed below the article title. If the author of more than one person, then added the next row.
  3. Originally institutions /agencies, written in the name of the institution where working (university). For example: IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, Indonesia.
  4. Email address, write the email address is still active and is written under the origin of institutions/agencies.
  5. Abstract, abstracts are written in English and Bahasa. Font Book Antiqua (10 pt) Italic and preferably not more than 300 words. The abstract should be clear, concise, and descriptive. This abstract should provide a brief introduction to the problem, objective of paper, followed by a statement regarding the methodology and a brief summary of results.
  6. Keywords, number 3-5 word keyword.
  7. Systematics of writing the article the results of research are: introduction; research method; main heading of the analysis or results; conclusions; acknowledgments; bibliography.
  8. Introduction should contain (sequentially) the general background and research question or hypothesis. If there is literature review, it can be included in this chapter or written title on another contain. The study objective should be written at the end of the introduction.
  9. Methods should elaborate on the method utilized in addressing the issues including the method of analysis. It should contain enough details allowing the reader to evaluate the appropriateness of methods as well as the reliability and validity of findings.
  10. Main heading of the analysis or results contain the results of the research findings and discussion. Write down the findings obtained from the results of the research that has been done and must be supported by adequate data. The results of research and findings must be able to answer the research question or hypothesis in the introduction.                                          
  11. Conclusions contain summary and suggestion. The summary should exemplify the answers provided to the hypothesis and/or research objectives or acquired findings. The summary should not contain repetition of research results and discussions, and it should instead contain a summation of research results and findings as expected in the research objective or hypothesis. The suggestions should present matters that will subsequently be conducted in relation to the research’s ensuing concepts.
  12. Acknowledgments, avoiding identifying any of the authors prior to peer review.


C. The Guidelines for Citation and References

  1. All the served data or quotes in the article taken from the other author articles should attach the reference sources.
  2. Writing citations and bibliography should use application management references such as Mendeley, End Note, Zotero or applications in Ms Word.
  3. Writing citations and bibliography using APA format (American Psychological Association) by using innote writing technique.
  4. All references used must be taken from the main source (national and international reputable scientific journals indexed by SCOPUS, Web of Science, and SINTA) and at least 80% of the reference amount used.
  5. Number of references at least 20 references (By citing at least one article published by Jurnal Empower: Jurnal Pengembangan Masyarakat Islam)
  6. References used should be published in the last 10 years.
  7. Wikipedia, personal blog, and non scientific website are not allowed to be used as reference.


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
