Abstract


Efforts to develop students' science literacy skills are not only through the process of learning in the classroom but can be done through various activities outside of teaching and learning activities in the classroom. Development of science literacy skills can be done using the learning homework based on Home Science Process Skills (HSPS) on the material being interaction Living with the environment. The purposes this study to improve scientific literacy of students, and assess students' responses to the use of homework based on HSPS in Material Interactions with the Environment Beings. The method of the research is quasi-experimental research design used in the study was a pretest-posttest control group design. The results showed 1) The average value of the N-Gain is 0,000 < 0.05, which shows the difference in scientific literacy of students increase significantly between grade class that uses homework based on HSPS with classes that do not use homework based on HSPS both in the aspect of knowledge, competence, and context; 2) The students' response to the use of homework based on HSPS in the material living creatures interaction with the environment to get a positive response from students. The result of the average score of students' response is 79% which is included in very strong criteria.The conclusion of this research that there are differences in upgrading a significant scientific literacy among grade class that uses homework based on HSPS with classes that do not use homework based on HSPS, and the students responded positively to the use of homework based on HSPS in the material living creatures interaction with the environment.
